about
For my grandparents who passed this year. With COVID we have not been able to grieve together. This is in lieu of the last look, a lost moment to say goodbye. I looked to old-time lessons of death as a transformation, not finality in writing this and found some peace. This song is cinematic, it's maybe even a little corny, but it's expansive. We thought a lot about making a soft and spacious feeling when making this song. I hope this brings some space for you, for whatever losses that have come this year.
lyrics
Lyrics:
You are done now,
I will not be seeing your face anymore
Still, waters run deep
Welling at my eyes, water taking me to say our last goodbyes
This is not the end tho,
This is a crescendo
Past present and future alive in this moment, oceans of time running through our veins
I know I'll see your face again in the water,
coasting on these clouds, speaking so loud
I know you're proud, I hesitate to let you go
Welling at my eyes, water taking me to say our last goodbyes
This is not the end tho,
This is a crescendo
